Making choices when you shop

Did you know that in an average supermarket in the UK there are over 6000 items on the shelves. With this incredible amount of stuff to choose from our brains become overloaded. Our processing ability is hindered by the sheer volume. So what does is do? The brain deletes these choices from your thinking and helps you to create a nice short list of things to pick. Then week after week we buy the same stuff from the same shelf.

The there you go, supermarkets do not offer any more choice than if you grew it yourself or used a small local grocer. What you would get if you did the later was a greater connection with your food and the willingness to try more different things.

Simple really, we must rely on our inherited feeling and intuition and not really on big companies to direct our choice and ultimately mess with our natural in born psychology

Happy shopping, next time you are at the veg table buy something for me, then smile.
